Michael Bivens has been recording and mixing for 15 years, as well as working in live music, live theater, and post-production for visual media. He has worked on local crews for household names and toured all 48 continental states as a guitar technician, front of house engineer, and monitor engineer. He has been writing and playing guitar since 2000, producing since 2004, playing bass in Avex since 2006, and playing guitar in Connibal Road since 2007. His studio production experience includes producing, engineering, performing, writing, sound-design, and extensive Pro Tools utilization--many times all on the same project.
Michael began noodling in Cool Edit Pro at home in 2000, and while working for the A/V department all four years of college, landed an internship at Smith Lee Productions in Maplewood, MO. After ten months of being an intern, he was offered a job at the esteemed 4 Seasons Media Productions in St. Louis, designed by the famed Russ Berger Design Group.
In the next five years, he would tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Dierks Bentley, and Dickey Betts as a front of house engineer, monitor engineer, and guitar technician. In 2011 he began working in theater audio at the Touhill Performing Arts Center in St Louis. 2012 saw the beginning of Redwood Studios, and in 2013 he began working in film audio and later would rejoin the live music scene at Jazz at the Bistro in 2015.
All this time, Michael has been writing and releasing music. Connibal Road released albums in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2016, and there are currently more projects in the works, in many different styles.
